Privacy policy.
How we collect, use and look after your personal data when you plan, install and live with a Maxsen smart home.
Your home is personal, and so is the information you share with us to make it smarter. We collect only what we need, keep it safe, and never sell it.
01Who we are
This policy explains how Maxsen Smart Solutions, trading as Maxsen Smart Home (“Maxsen”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, discloses and looks after personal data, in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
It covers our website at www.maxsen.sg, enquiries by WhatsApp, Telegram, phone and email, showroom visits you book on our website, our showroom at 9004 Tampines Street 93, #02-122, Singapore 528838, and our consultations, installations, warranty and after-sales support.
02The personal data we collect
We only collect what we need to plan, install and support your smart home. Depending on how you work with us, this may include:
- Contact details: your name, mobile number, email address and messaging handle (such as WhatsApp or Telegram).
- Your home and project: your address, property type (HDB, condominium or landed), floor plans, photographs and measurements of your rooms, existing wiring and switch layouts, and your choices of products, finishes and packages.
- Enquiries and appointments: the items in your enquiry list, your messages, and your appointment and site-visit details.
- Quotations and payments: quotations, invoices and records of payment. We do not collect or store card details on our website.
- Installation and support: the devices installed in your home, the Wi-Fi network name and password needed to connect them, the smart home accounts we set up with you, and records of service and warranty visits.
- Website information: see section 9. Our website has no contact form, no analytics and no advertising trackers.
03How we collect it
- When you contact us by WhatsApp, Telegram, phone or email, or when you send your enquiry list from our website (it opens WhatsApp with your list as a message, which you choose to send).
- When you book a showroom visit on our website. Bookings are made through Calendly, our booking service, which passes us the name, email, mobile number and answers you give, and sends you the confirmation.
- When you visit our showroom, book a consultation, or we visit your home to measure, plan or install.
- From people you ask to contact us on your behalf, such as your interior designer, contractor or family members, when you have agreed to this.
04How we use it
We use your personal data to:
- reply to your enquiries and arrange showroom visits, consultations and site visits;
- prepare quotations, plan your lighting, switches, curtains, network and controls, and carry out the installation;
- connect and set up your devices, scenes, apps and voice assistants;
- provide warranty service, repairs and after-sales support;
- issue invoices, collect payment and keep business and tax records;
- improve our products and services, and keep our records accurate;
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations; and
- with your consent, tell you about new products, packages and offers (see section 6).
05Your consent, and withdrawing it
By contacting us or giving us your details, you agree that we may collect, use and disclose your personal data for the purposes in this policy. Where the law requires, we will ask for your consent separately.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to our Data Protection Officer (section 14). We will act on your request within a reasonable time and let you know what it means for the services we can still provide. For example, we cannot install or support devices in your home without your address and contact details.
06Marketing messages
We will only send you marketing messages (such as new products or monthly offers) if you have agreed to receive them. We comply with the PDPA’s Do Not Call provisions: we will not send marketing messages to a Singapore number listed on the Do Not Call Registry unless you have given us clear and unambiguous consent.
You can stop marketing messages at any time by replying “STOP” or telling us on WhatsApp, Telegram, by phone or by email. Service messages about your appointment, installation or warranty will still reach you.
08Transfers outside Singapore
Some services we use, such as WhatsApp, Calendly, Google and the cloud services behind smart home apps, may store or process data outside Singapore. When personal data is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps, as the PDPA requires, to make sure it is protected to a standard comparable to the protection it has in Singapore.
09Our website
- No forms, analytics or ad trackers. Our website does not ask you to fill in a form, and it uses no analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies.
- Saved on your own device: your enquiry list on the Collection page, and whether you have seen the Light Studio tips, are kept in your browser’s local storage on your device. They are not sent to us unless you choose to send your list on WhatsApp. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
- Fonts: our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy for how Google handles this.
- Server logs: like every website, our host records basic technical details of each visit (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. These are not used to identify you.
- Links to other sites: links to WhatsApp, Telegram, partner and product websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
10Your smart home, after handover
Once your system is handed over, your devices run on apps such as Smart Life and voice assistants such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri. The data those apps collect is handled by their providers under their own privacy policies, not by Maxsen.
We only access your smart home apps, accounts or network with your permission, for example during installation or when you ask us for support. After installation we recommend that you change any Wi-Fi password you shared with us.
11How we protect it
We take reasonable security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, changes or disposal. Only staff and partners who need your data for their work can see it.
No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe. If a data breach happens that is likely to cause you significant harm, we will notify you and the Personal Data Protection Commission as the PDPA requires.
12How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. For example, we keep invoices and payment records for at least five years for tax purposes, and installation and warranty records for as long as your warranty and support last. Enquiries that do not go ahead are deleted within two years. When we no longer need your data, we delete it or make it anonymous.
13Seeing and correcting your data
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, how it has been used or disclosed in the past year, or to correct it. Please write to our Data Protection Officer (section 14). We will reply within 30 days, or tell you if we need longer. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests, and we will tell you the fee first.
Please tell us if your details change, so we can keep our records accurate.
